Attempting to comprehend the Mystery of God… Some days I feel so overwhelmed with wanting to understand and know, but the Spirit whispers, “Rest.” There is great peace in knowing we don’t have to understand the mystery of who God is and why He does what He does, and there’s the tension of just wanting to know. This painting was an inspiration for the “mysterious” illustration in our Character of God Scripture Notecard set. The blank card had been sitting on my desk for almost a year untouched. I felt so intimidated to try to illustrate my feelings about the mystery of God. I looked through pages of my old artwork and settled on this painting to incorporate. It seemed fitting for this characteristic of God because it feels jumbled and a bit chaotic with lots of layers, yet also organic and beautiful. This painting perfectly illustrates the attempt in learning how to hold “both” in one hand these days.
