I have been waiting 36 days to post about this. My sweet husband's feet are finally back on American soil and I can finally wrap my arms around him in real life (we've resorted to air hugs via G+ hangout this trip). In retrospect, 36 days didn't seem like a long time (but that's because he's here with me). Not to be dramatic here, but throughout the time he was away, it was unbearable.
I'm honestly not the same person when he's gone. I get worried and stressed. Sometimes I get mean and frustrated and just plain hard to be around. To everyone who was standing in the route of the Rhino (aka: me), I apologize. And I thank you for being kind to me when I wasn't entirely kind to you (this apology is especially addressed to my mom). Stress can really take a toll on people. I'm trying my best to learn how to control it. ;)
To all of my friends and family I had the absolute pleasure of visiting while in Georgia: I love you. I'm thankful for you. I am incredibly grateful that you worked around my schedule of video chat dates with JD and helped me get through the tough days of his absence. You are dear to my heart and, while there are very few positives to JD being on a trip like this, hanging with all of you is a major highlight.
Now to the fun part of this post:
He's back!!! Haul out the party hats, kazoos, popcorn buckets and lunch vouchers. The plan was for him to fly in Sunday so I came back to Huntsville early Friday to stock the fridge and add a little more flavor to our home decor by hanging photos and other things on the walls.
Side note about the photo wall: We've been planning on doing something like this in the hallway since we moved in but JD is extremely precise on things. He loves to have things mapped out before we attempt it. I, on the other hand, tend to just start hammering things up and decide if I like it or not after the fact. This was one of those times. I simply eyeballed each frame instead of measuring or leveling... Magically, they still turned out pretty great and JD was surprised when he got home!
I picked him up Sunday and we headed straight to Another Broken Egg for brunch (hint: bacon is forbidden in the country he traveled to sooo he devoured a few slices that morning). We came back to the house where he unpacked all the treasures he brought back to me (I'll post about those later), took a nice long nap then ventured cross-city to hang out with some friends.
Yesterday, JD did the half-Murph with the neighborhood crossfit crew then we met up with friends again, enjoyed a feast at Newks (my favorite) and bee-lined it to the theaters where we enjoyed a tub of popcorn and Guardians of the Galaxy (cannot get over how amazing that movie is). The rest of the day was spent trying to stay awake by cleaning and unpacking.
Our plans today consist of TMNT (we're going all out with a two-day double feature), more cleaning, more unpacking, hopefully hanging up our new hammock and simply being together.
