It may be a few days late but Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from Jitney's Journeys!!
To keep in theme with our travel photos for the past few years on our Christmas cards, we wanted to use a photo from our trip to Japan (Nov. - mid-Dec) this year which means I had to design it, order it and get them shipped to our house all before we returned home (don't you just love the conveniency of the Internet??). We took this beaut when venturing through Kyoto. The initial plan was to address the cards between our return to Huntsville and our travel plans to see family but I came down with the flu. It was awful. Awful, I say! But thanks to an amazing husband who bought lots of take-out and kept a steady supply of saltines, Gatorade and soup, coupled with Tamiflu, I was well by the end of the week... just in time to leave for my parents' house. Needless to say, we were late getting our postcards out this year. But it's okay... next year we'll get them out in time! (Pretty sure I said that last year too, though.)
This Christmas was a little different than normal. It's been a tough year for my family (I may share more about it later) but one thing is for sure... This Christmas we celebrated the most precious gifts of all: Salvation, Redemption, Family and New Beginnings. In the last two weeks, I've had more heart-to-hearts than I've had in a while. Talks where we poured our hearts out to each other, encouraged each other with Truth and prayed for one another. After seeing what's He's done this year, I'm so thrilled to see what God's going to do in 2015!
What about you? How was your Christmas? What are you looking forward to in 2015?
Advent Market at Summit Crossing
"During the Advent season of 2013 we were able to partner with Neverthirst to change the lives of several thousand people in 7 different villages in India. As 7 new wells were built we hope these lives are changed not just during the Christmas season but for years to come through clean water and for eternity with the hope of the Gospel of Christ.
As we look towards Christmas this year, we are excited to host the 3rd annual Advent Market on December 6th from 8am to 2:00pm. There are 63 local vendors that will be part of the market this year. Over $2400 has already been raised in booth fees and several vendors are giving a percentage of their sales to the wells. Come out and do all of your Christmas shopping and also help continue to carry the Gospel to the nations." - Summit Crossing
Here's a sneak peek of a few products we'll have available at the Jitney booth this year:
Ornamental Favorites...
Prepare yourself for an ornamental overload, as we are about to reveal to you our first Todd Nest Christmas Tree. Last year, we had a one-foot live Christmas tree set up in our Germany hotel. Our first year looked a little something like this. Now that we've settled into our Alabama home, we decided it was time to buy our first large Christmas tree and decorate our home in true Christmas fashion.
Friends always ask us what we bring home as souvenirs from our travelling: (1) we send a postcard home from each location and (2) buy a Christmas ornament.
Our favorite is this handpainted globe from Rothenburg, Germany.
And, yes, the town looks
just
like
this ornament! It's lovely.
JD's sister, Theresa, and her husband brought us this stunning ornament from their honeymoon in Gatlinburg.
(1) Paris, France: Christmas 2011
(2) Tel Aviv, Israel: 2011
(3) Oahu, Hawaii: 2012
(4) Oahu, Hawaii: 2011
(5) Milan, Italy: 2012
(6) Chattanooga, Tennessee: 2-year anniversary 2012
(7) Bahamas: 2011
My mom made the amazing ornaments and sent us one. It fits perfectly with our tree!
And the NOEL banner? Her creation too. I told JD earlier that morning that our tree was missing that special something, but I had no idea what it was. I put this banner up and the tree felt so much more complete.
How precious is this sign!? Better than mistletoe.
Do you like our tree skirt? Look for it in our 2013 Jitney's Journeys Christmas collection!!
Those are a few of our favorite Christmas ornaments...
What is yours?
Do you have a themed tree, one tree or many, large or small?
Happy 2012!!
Happy 2012 everyone!!
We realize that, once again, we are far far far behind in posting. It's my (Whitney) fault. You will be happy to know that posting more consistently and frequently is on my Top 5 Goals for 2012.
iMovie has had a few kinks over the past few months; thus, our videos are even further in the making than what we had hoped. I am beyond grateful for my Apple-savvy brother, Chase, for helping me fix the bugs and we will hopefully have the video production "business" up and running sometime soon... hopefully today.
We will continue posting about our trip to Hawaii throughout the next few weeks. However, we wanted to share two special photos from our most recent adventures throughout Germany and France. As always, we are super pumped about sharing our journey through these two history, castle and church-invaded countries with you.
Back to the topic of the New Year... I don't know about you, but JD and I are in awe of what God has done in our lives and our marriage during 2011. We truly cannot begin to imagine what He's going to do in 2012! He has definitely been moving steadily through our family in the recent month and has set out new pathways for Chase and Jackie, and Brandon and Theresa. We are so proud of our brothers and sisters in the new job opportunities they will be embarking on in February.
Chase will be working as a Front-end Web Developer at
and Jackie is able to transfer to the Las Vegas
with her current position of department manager.
We are excited to tell you about the task Brandon and Theresa have coming up but they still have a few people to tell before we can express it to everyone via blog. :)
Needless to say, all four opportunities are nothing less than an absolute blessing from above and we cannot wait to see what God is going to do through each of these wonderful human beings that we have the honor of calling our sisters and brothers in Christ and in our earthly family.
