"…Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord…" 1 Corinthians 15:58 (ESV)
First, go buy some beautiful washi tape. Fair warning: there is so, so much to choose from. It can get overwhelming. Start out with a few rolls that catch your eye and go from there. I like to browse frequently at Hobby Lobby's and Michael's selection of washi... Any time I can use the 40% off coupon. ;) You can also find some fantastic ones on Amazon (Prime!) as well as searching for washi tape on Etsy. I've also found some lovely little washi spools at shops in Japan and Hawaii, just in case you visit - go ahead and check them out.
I like to change up my color theme / pattern every month so I don't have a set routine for most events. The only constant I have is birthdays and anniversaries. I found those tiny mixed media washi rolls (pictured above) at a shop in Hawaii. The pinkish ones are for ladies' birthdays, the blueish ones are for guys' birthday and the orangish ones are for anniversaries. Basically, that was the only thing my Agenda was filled with in October 2015, but I couldn't resist filling it up with something!! What better way to start filling it up than to celebrate my favorite people?
In the monthly layout pictured above, the white + navy washi signifies the remainder of our time in Kauai, the white + orange washi signifies coffee / lunch / dinner dates with friends and family, the geometric tape signifies the time we spent at my parents' house, the feather washi signifies the time we spent at JD's parents' house, and the striped washi signifies New Year's Eve! (Yay for holiday travel, right?) All of that washi except for the last striped one is from Hobby Lobby. The striped one was from my mom's collection but I have no idea where she got that from. :) The stickers were a gift from my mom at Christmas. They're from the reset girl!
Also, I keep all of my washi rolls on a string of twine. It may not be the most creative way to store them but that little rope makes it super easy for me to tote around when we travel - or even going from room to room in the house.
Here's another example of using different tapes for various events from the draft planner I used in July. I think I'll invest in more skinny washi tapes - because I just love them!!
Lots of people like to use washi tape then write on top of it instead of writing above or below it. Go for what works for you!
One of these days, I'll post a photo of my weekly planner pages. I will admit that most of your planner pages probably look more organized than mine. I've basically just turned them into a sticker / washi fest with a list of things to get done, business ideas, detailed travel info (which is a big reason I have yet to post any photos), people to contact, notes to self, things to research, people to hang out with, notes from professional phone conversations and random information that makes little sense when I look back at it. Ha!
I also wanted to share one of my hands-down, absolute most favorite sources for all-things planner loveliness. Christy Tomlinson of The Planner Society is always sharing amazing goodies found at her favorite shops worldwide and web-worldwide. She even found our monthly planner printables on Etsy and featured them on her Instagram page! I absolutely LOVE the way she used them. Her layering of washi and stickers is perfection, friends.
I enrolled in her Creative Planner Workshop last year but haven't had a chance to watch all of the videos. It's definitely worth checking out if you want to be the Ultra Mega Planner. I think the class is regularly $34.95 but you can get on her mailing list and wait for her to send out a discount if you're not in too much of a hurry!
