Loving my new #dailyagenda from #jitneysjourneys and the supplemental guide to #scripturememory! It has rekindled my love for scripture journaling and has me filling up the pages this week. - Lyndsay A. {@artsyabel}

Didn't realize how much writing out a verse helped me to memorize it! I found myself quoting the one I memorized last week in a conversation without thinking about it. Is anyone else using the notes section as a journal? I'm writing a sweet memory down from each day in that spot. Will be fun to look through at the end of the year. - Caroline T.

In 2014, I wanted to see my faith grow exponentially. I prayed fearless prayers with the expectation of seeing God show up. I wasn't always great at it, and I'm definitely still growing. However, I can boldly say that I believe and trust him more than I did. In 2015, I want to KNOW His word. I want his word to have its home in my heart and mind! - Amy G. {@amegivens}

Our house is working on memorizing scripture! I used the translation that is found in our oldest son's bible so that it would be easier for our boys to remember. - Lindsey S.

We hope this is an encouragement to you and your family to memorize scripture together this year! If you haven't downloaded the free scripture memory printable, find it here. Have a fantastic weekend!

Japan // Scripture Memory: Week 1

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
Colossians 3:16 (ESV)

Today marks Week 1 of the scripture memory resource (download it here). Join us as we memorize verses this month focusing on the importance of knowing scripture and the effects that flow from it. Whether you use index cards, jot it in your journal, or write it on your mirror, share how you're learning the verses by posting photos on Instagram and Facebook with #dwellrichly and #scripturememory. I will re-post tagged photos on the blog Friday. If the Lord speaks to you in any way through this process, we'd love to hear about that too (and share on the blog if you'll let us). Most importantly, we pray this journey is exciting, challenging, and refreshing for you. Here we go!

Japanese Kids

In other news, I realize that I haven't even posted about our trip to Japan!! Not even once! I really dropped the ball on that. We were there from early Nov. to mid-Dec. and it became, hands-down, one of our top favorite places. The people were incredibly kind and generous. The cities we visited in the country were absolutely stunning. The noodles were delicious (we didn't venture out a whole lot in the food realm). And the last week we were there, it was freezing. Literally, it snowed more than 2.5 FEET of snow in the last week. We've never seen anything like it. Did we play in the snow? Absolutely. We fell back into every large pile of snow we could find and even filmed the process. I'm sure several of the Japanese people, as kind as they were, thought to themselves, "Foolish Americans. They must be from the South."

As for the photo above: First off, don't you LOVE those hats?? Too stinkin' cute. At almost every temple or garden we visited, groups of young students would approach us and ask if they could speak to us in English (the teacher would stand back a few feet). They would ask us questions about ourselves: "What is your name?", "Where are you from?" Then they would pull out a pamphlet they made to show us popular cities and attractions in Japan. Finally, they gave us a small gift (such as origami) and asked if they could take a photo with us as the teacher quickly approached with camera in hand. What a perfect way to practice English! Can't wait to share more of our Japanese adventures with y'all soon!

Have a lovely Monday.

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. (Colossians 3:16)" If you've been reading our blog throughout the past year or know me in real life, you know that I've been obsessed with this verse. Paul stresses the importance of scripture memory, to not only memorize God's Word, but to walk with Christ and encourage others with His Word.

The continuing of this verse encourages a deep level of intimacy within the believers' community... teach one another, admonish one another in all wisdom; sing together; be thankful together in your hearts to God. We need community. We need one another. It's the desire that God has created within us. When we first dwell in Christ, His love is an outpour - an overflow - into our communities. We are called to let the words of Christ dwell in us richly as a life-giving command for ourselves but also as a life-giving command for others. His words dwell in us and in return, pour out from our lips as truth to another as a form of accountability, love, wisdom and worship.

This is dwelling.

This is community.

This is worship.

So let's join in community together and memorize God's Word this year! We are so thrilled to release this free printable of 52 scripture memory verses for 2015. While this printable was created to supplement the Jitney's Journeys 2015 Daily Agenda, we encourage anyone and everyone to use this as a resource for scripture memory.

2015 Scripture Memory by Jitney's Journeys

Format
While you are welcome to use this printable however you'd like, here's what we had in mind when designing it: Each weekly verse begins on a Monday; therefore, week 1 begins on January 5. The theme for each month has been built to interrupt you from typical monthly rhythms (i.e. "freedom" is in February instead of July and "gratitude" is in April instead of November).

This resource was designed to help you dive into scripture. Don't stop at memorizing the verses; meditate on them and ask God to speak to you through them. Seek opportunities to encourage other believers throughout the week by speaking the truths you're learning.

2015 Daily Agenda // Hourly Planner & Monthly Calendar

It's not too late to start planning the new year! There have been a number of obstacles we've hit since we announced our plans for the 2015 Agenda in October but they are finally in stock and ready for purchase. {cue the party hats, kazoos and "celebrate good times, come on!"}

Order them from our Etsy site here!

Thanks to your input on the Agenda Cover Design Giveaway, we decided to offer both the geometric and floral cover designs. Both have been selling at steady speeds. What would we do without y'all?

Special Features & Contents of the Agenda:

  • Dwell Richly: Inspired by Colossians 3:16, "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly," we added this as a section for you to write in weekly scripture memory or things to be praying about. My current goal and goal for 2015 is to be more intentional... in memorizing scripture and praying for people. We hope you'll use it in the same way. [side note: We will share resources for different studies and ways to "dwell richly" throughout the 2015 year.]
  • By the Hour: Each page is one full day beginning at 6 am and ending at 9 pm. Fill in appointments, dinner dates, play dates, school schedules, or things to do (or to get done by that time).
  • Today's Top Five: Set goals for yourself and feel awesome when you get to check it off your list for the day. Julie, one of our fabulous JCT members, likes to write in her Top 5 at the end of the day for the next day. (i.e. She'll write in her Top 5 for Tuesday at the end of the day Monday. That way, she can go into the office Tuesday morning and tackle it all without having to take time Tuesday morning to list out the goals for the day.)

  • The Feather: We couldn't help but sneak the feather logo design onto a few spreads including the holiday placeholders.

Dimensions: 6" x 8.5" x 1" (thickness)

Advent Market at Summit Crossing

Advent Market at Summit Crossing

"During the Advent season of 2013 we were able to partner with Neverthirst to change the lives of several thousand people in 7 different villages in India. As 7 new wells were built we hope these lives are changed not just during the Christmas season but for years to come through clean water and for eternity with the hope of the Gospel of Christ.

As we look towards Christmas this year, we are excited to host the 3rd annual Advent Market on December 6th from 8am to 2:00pm. There are 63 local vendors that will be part of the market this year. Over $2400 has already been raised in booth fees and several vendors are giving a percentage of their sales to the wells. Come out and do all of your Christmas shopping and also help continue to carry the Gospel to the nations." - Summit Crossing

Here's a sneak peek of a few products we'll have available at the Jitney booth this year:

Handlettered Etched Metal Bracelets with Leopardskin Jasper Beads

Etched bracelets

I have been obsessed with making these bracelets. A few months ago, I asked on FB what you would like to see etched onto the Jitney's handlettered beaded bracelets. Here's what I have so far!

Each metal piece is meticulously etched with a word or short phrase then finished off with leopardskin jasper beaded sides. These will be out for sale at the Advent Market on December 6th.

In all honesty, the beaded part is what takes so long. I'm thinking about making a more simple version of the bracelet (without the beads) but still have the handlettering with maybe a simple leather band(s) on each side. Or maybe even no leather or beads, just a simple chain with the metal piece. What do you think?

Check out our other bracelets here

If you would like a customized bracelet, you can send us an email or contact us here. Please note that we will be unable to finish any orders prior to Christmas. These bracelets are priced at $28.

Kind Heart, Fierce Mind, Brave Spirit // Artwork

I have intentions of selling pretty much all of the artwork I create, but I decided to hold on to this one.

I've seen this quote floating around Pinterest and Etsy for a while now but I've been so inspired by it. The quote actually derived from Kate Forsyth's The Witches of Eileanan"May my heart be kind, my mind fierce, and my spirit brave." I haven't read the book but I do love this quote.

When I finished painting this girl, she seemed to hold all of these characteristics. Obviously, she's not real but an artist becomes connected to the person or objects in the artwork, just as a writer becomes connected to the people (fiction or non-fiction) that he / she writes about. Trust me, as I'm writing this, I'm questioning if I should share this or not. I realize how crazy it sounds. But I'm trusting that you'll either disregard the craziness and continue to read future blog posts or you'll love this piece and totally relate to what I'm saying.

Kind heart, fierce mind, brave spirit: these are characteristics I pray to develop in my own life. I lack each one daily but it is because of the grace of God that I entail these characteristics at all.

This painting hangs in my studio along with a few other favorites of mine. It is a reminder of who I want to be and the warrior heart I strive to attain.

What quote or scripture are you drawn to this week?
