JD's First Video

It was a warm and lovely autumn day exactly two months ago from today. My sweet husband and I got the opportunity to put together my grandmother's "appliances" cabinet. With everything we do together, we had a blast. Yes, we do seem to find an overflowing amount of joy in almost everything we do, but we just can't help ourselves. :) This video marks a huge event... this is actually the first video that JD has made on his computer by himself. Normally I make them because I have more time on my hands... and since he drives us whenever we travel throughout the Southeast, I have plenty of time in the passenger's seat to edit videos. I am so stinkin' proud of him for putting this one together! I hope ya'll enjoy it as much as I do!

Snowed in at the Bungalow

How crazy has this winter storm been?! JD made it out of the driveway for the first time this morning in Papa's 4-wheel drive truck but Silver Flash still has about 2 inches of ice layered on her windshield. I have yet to get out of our sweet bungalow. However, these four days have given us a lot of time to examine the pure beauty surrounding our home, eat, work on videos, be creative, coupon clip and CLEAN!! :) What have you done throughout this week to prevent cabin fever?

Here's a video of our icy snow-covered bungalow:

How to Make Snow Ice Cream

Before everyone settles in to watch the National Championship game, you might decide you want to make some delicious snow ice cream beforehand. :) It will make for a perfect ball game treat! We also apologize for not posting more consistently lately. We've been working on our Christmas videos so we will be posting those as soon as possible. We definitely have time tomorrow as we're iced in (sadly, not "snowed" in). Well, JD and I will be having a lovely dinner of chicken poppy seed casserole and black eyed peas, followed with the delicious snow ice cream! :) Hope you enjoy!

Search for the Great Pumpkin

What an absolute joy it was to pick out our very first pumpkin together as a married couple!! In the Adams Family, it's a father/daughter tradition to carve the Halloween pumpkin in the theme of the decorated house. Last year we made a super awesome pirate. This year we made a crazy mad scientist. It also marked the first year that JD could join in on the fun and get in on the tradition! We will have to carry this tradition on to our children after all. It was actually one of JD's first pumpkin carving adventures since being a child. He did an amazing job! :)

Brains? Hearts? MAD SCIENTISTS??

This post is incredibly belated but it is well worth the wait! We would like to introduce you to the infamous Adams Halloween House. If there were neighborhood awards for the most loved and most feared house, my parents would take the prize. Christmas, of course, beats out all of the holidays; but Halloween follows in a close second.

This year's theme screamed Mad Scientist!! I dressed up as a scary nurse, JD dressed up as "Docter Docter" (disregard the misspelling) and dad dressed up as "Doctor Trust Me". I made the lab coats from a Queen bed sheet and staples. :) We actually got a lot of the decorations from WalMart and dad came up with the idea of the bubbling cauldron.

Enjoy the Mad Lab! We have two other video posts following this one with some more Halloween clips this week... and then we're off to our Thanksgiving and Christmas posts. Hopefully we'll have those posted by the end of December!

WE RTR

"WE RTR" means "War Eagle, Roll Tide Roll"... not that our entire family cheers for Bama. :)

Believe it or not, even though JD and I both graduated from Auburn University*, JD is a HUGE Bama fan. This Friday will mark our second Iron Bowl together. Last year, Bama was the obvious choice to win but this year, I think Auburn has a much better chance.

Most of yall are probably surprised that I actually care about this Iron Bowl. I cheered for six years and went to Auburn (a fanatic football school) for four years without an inch of interest in football. By my sophomore year in college, I despised football... thinking it was a waste of time.

However, when you get married, a lot of things that weren't important to you become important because you know it's important to your spouse. I've even taken an interest in video games again (granted, it's not Call of Duty or anything like that... more like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Mario Cart). I've learned to appreciate things as he has for me. JD doesn't sit down at the sewing machine with me but he is the most encouraging person in my life whether it's with sewing or spiritually (he has cut some fabric for me though...).

The beauty of marriage is so fascinating to us (I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the fact that I have such a remarkable husband though). During our engagement, we listened to a sermon / wedding ceremony by Paul Washer and he said:
The world will tell us that marriage is a 50/50 relationship. And then, years ago, Christians came along and said, "No it's not a 50 / 50 relationship. It's is a 100 /100 relationship." I disagree with both, marriage is a 100% / 0% relationship. You give 100% of everything you are to this woman even if she returns nothing of the sort back to you because you have been called by God to lay down your life for her. There is another sense, sister, that you have been called to do the same.
We highly recommend anyone in the season of engagement or marriage to listen to this sermon: Destroying Pop Views of Marriage. We wish we could just write out the entire sermon and post it, because it is overflowing with biblical wisdom. I am thankful that we both strive to give 100% even though the other may sometimes give a little less... regardless of the conditions.

*Disclaimer: JD graduated with a Master's Degree so that makes it less of a big deal. :)

Barbados Part V and VI - Bathsheba, the Zoo, the Rain and the Ride Home

Welcome to Bathsheba, one of the top surfing locations in the world... also one of the most dangerous. If you can't understand the whole story behind Bathsheba, you can go to this link and read more about it. It's super interesting!

Also featured in this video is the amazing Wildlife Reserve. The animals were literally at our fingertips, or toenails as you can see at the beginning of the segment. My favorite animals were the peacocks (I wanted to take a feather) and monkeys; on the other hand, JD loved the Reticulated Python. :)

Today will be our last post of Barbados. We had some awesome footage of snorkeling with the sea turtles in a port but we had some technical difficulties. We miss that wondrous island with its perfect beauty and crazy out-of-nowhere rainstorms. It was always the ideal temperature and perfect amount of sun. We couldn't have asked for a better group to be with for a week (family). Most importantly, we can't wait to go back!!

Barbados Part IV - Earthworks Pottery and Harrison's Cave

This was probably our favorite adventure - Earthworks Pottery and Harrison's Cave. JD definitely says, "Earthworks Pottery Barn"... I love my husband. Please note that Earthworks Pottery and Pottery Barn are two separate places. :) We bought two beautiful vases, one for ourselves and one for the Todd parents; a little jewelry holder for Theresa; a Barbados tea mug (because we love mugs... if you couldn't tell from our wedding registry); and two amazing pasta bowls which we use almost every day.

More than any video, this probably displays our super-touristic nature within a different country.

Does this place/tree remind YOU of the movie Avatar and Pandora??
